The wound that endures
Work in progress

The wound that endures is a proposal that seeks to examine the idea of fluid as a physical entity secreted by living beings to seal, protect, and repair themselves.

It takes as a universal and symbolic reference two fluids that connect us to the primal: on the one hand, the "resin" that sprouts from trees when a wound is made in their bark. On the other, the "mother-of-pearl" that is generated by mollusks as a method of repair.

Resin and mother-of-pearl are fluids whose unique characteristic is that, over time, their fossilization will transform them into the precious stones "amber" and "pearl."

This project proposes turning these two fluids into objects of exploration, delving into their physicality, symbolism, and imagery, in order to then understand and reimagine the functioning of our own bodies. How they produce eye mucus to protect our eyes during sleep or blood to seal a wound.
