Celestial alphabet, 2020

Installation. Resin and led light. 150 x 150 x 200 cm.

The installation consists of a series of small transparent pieces suspended in space. The shapes of these pieces are based on the "celestial alphabet," designed in the 16th century by Cornelius Agrippa to send messages to heaven. They draw a parallel with "myodepsopia," a phenomenon seen when looking at the sky during the day, also known as "floaters." These shapes invade our field of vision in strong blue light and cast shadows on the vitreous of the eye, as is the case in this piece.

These shapes, which we see when looking at a blue background, have the peculiarity of appearing to float in the air outside, but they are actually located inside our eyes and become visible when certain shadows are cast on our retina. This installation delineates and merges exterior and interior visions.
