Traced Maps, 2021. Cyanotype on tree bark. / Cianotipia sobre corteza de árbol. Traced Maps is part of The Photo Object exhibition curated by Chiara Salvi in 2021. Traced Maps es parte de la exposición The Photo Object comisariada por Chiara Salvi en 2021. The exhibition statement: "Perception is an act that starts in the real world. The purpose of this exhibition is to identify the photographic image as a tridimensional thing: a physical object that exists and is experienced in time and space. These artists blur the line between photography and sculpture. They change the nature and value of the object chosen as support by making it photosensitive and drastically alter its meaning and place in the universe. The image holds a physical presence and bears traces of the action of the artist. Beyond their visual content they hold social and cultural traits and residues of the material that hosts them. The image manifests itself physically and the action of the artist is the creation of the work. As opposed to photography's stillness and portability this exhibition celebrates a kind of photography that takes space, is a physical record, and radically transforms the surface that hosts it. For this exhibition I wanted to put together artists that interpret the photographic image as a tridimensional thing: a physical object that exists and is experienced in time and space."
